Both sides have smaller zipped compartments on the outside. One side has a full sized compartment for documents in one half and mesh compartments in the other half including a zipped section. Other side has a full sized compartment to fit further documents and pens including a small business card sized zipped pocket in one half and then a padded section for a laptop in the other half.
